Local Needs
We know that there is huge amount of need for counselling services in Slough and the surrounding areas. For us this means that there is still much work to be done. You have told us what you need and we are now actively fundraising to ensure that we can deliver these much needed services.
Current projects needing funding include:
- A ‘Financial Inclusion Project’ to help people, who are in debt control their finances, learn what options are available to them and cope with the emotional problems which trigger excessive spending.
- An ‘Older Persons Outreach Project’ - the project will work with older people living in residential care in Slough to organise activities and offer counselling and support services to those who may be facing emotional challenges such as bereavement or isolation.
- A Part-time Mental Health Liaison Worker - who will outreach into communities in Slough, Windsor Datchet and Maidenhead to raise awareness of mental health and will provide one-to-one counselling to local people who may be unwilling or unable to come to our office.
- A couple counsellor who will provide individual and couple counselling for people experiencing relationship problems.
- A ‘Women’s only support group’ which will provide group counselling and support services to women who have been the victims of domestic violence.
- A ‘Young person’s counselling support group’ working in partnership with youth workers this group will support young people who are about to leave the care system. The group will help young people in Slough and the immediate surrounding areas face complex emotional issues with the aim of building self- esteem and steering them away from abusive relationships.
